The Story

Blagu Coffee Roasted Ethiopia Guji Hambela Wamena Akrabi

This coffee was processed at a wet mill in Woreda Hambela Wamena called Hassen Ware, which serves as a collection site for the local farmers to sell their coffee. Most farms in the are are very small with less than 1 hectare of land, often 500 trees or so planted. The altitude around Hassen Ware ranges from around 1850 – 1950 meters above sea level

This is a fully washed coffee that has been sorted started with the whole coffee cherry, all the way to the final green, hand sorting employed all along the way. Light roasts of Hambela Wamena are a sweet treat, with delicate, perfumed floral, and with tart, structuring acidity.

The dry grounds have a complex bouquet of floral top notes, accented by fragrant spiced hints that touch on cinnamon tea and all spice. The aroma is intoxicating, a redolence of floral jasmine and honeysuckle flowers is raised in the steam, along with sweet raw honey smells.

This is a coffee that wins competitions. Try as a pour over and you’ll see what I mean. Body is on the thin side, so keep it light and bright and you’ll be rewarded with tea-like flavors of pearl jasmine and black teas. It shows vivid acidic impressions that are both tart and grabby like sweet limes. The cup flavors unfold as the coffee cools, and light touches of tart salmon berry, dried mango, mild spiced notes and pristine, pointed sweetness. The coffee is elegant and brisk, and floral flavors and aroma are anything but subtle
