The Story

Nyeri, town, south-central Kenya. Nyeri lies at an elevation of about 5,750 feet (1,750 meters) in the heart of the Kikuyu people’s homeland called Gikuyu or Agikuyu who Bantu-speaking.

Nyeri is a pleasingly arranged town in the Aberdare foothills, with extensive green meadows and gardens. The foothills are covered by a dense eucalyptus forest and afford a magnificent view of Mount Kenya to the northeast. Much of the surrounding area is utilized for farming, and coffee and tea are important cash crops.

Kenya AA is one of the world’s best coffees and often the choice of experienced coffee roasters. Coffee from the Nyeri is sometimes referred to as the heart of black gold coffee due to the intensity of flavor packed into slow-developing, very dense beans. Grown in the highlands volcanic soil, and blessed by strategic rainfall, beans develop a classic balanced Kenyan taste profile: fresh fruitiness, crisp citrus, marked by black-currant or berry flavors with lots of structure and complexity, red wine bright and balanced acidity.

Nyeri is the only place in the world that can create a coffee this thrilling in its combination of tropical citrus flavors and rich, syrupy sweetness.

Light roasting will produce a more acidic, delicate, and flavorful cup with cupping profile: black-currant, peach blossom, orange zest, and black tea, pomegranate, tobacco, balanced acidity, berry flavors with lots of structure and complexity.
