Gesha Peru — A Symphony from the Andes

Shrouded in mist, the highlands of San Ignacio, Cajamarca rise like silent emerald waves along the Andes. At elevations between 1,750 and 2,000 meters above sea level, smallholder farmers tend to one of the world's most cherished coffee varieties — Gesha.

The Land and Its Legacy

Volcanic soils, cool mountain air, and extraordinary biodiversity create a natural paradise where every coffee tree grows in perfect harmony with its environment.

Here, cultivation is done by hand, not by habit. Farmers harvest only perfectly ripe cherries, working beneath the dappled light of the forest canopy. Their approach honors tradition while embracing modern understanding — organic, sustainable, and deeply respectful of nature's rhythm.

The Coffee Journey

Variety and Altitude

Originally discovered in Ethiopia, Gesha thrives exceptionally well on Peru's northern Andes. At this altitude, slow cherry maturation allows sugars and aromatic compounds to develop fully.

The result is a cup of clarity and sweetness — a liquid reflection of the air it breathes and the soil that nourishes it.

Each tree embodies both heritage and adaptation: Ethiopia's wild beauty reborn through Cajamarca's serene landscape. This is how Gesha Peru finds its voice — elegant, layered, and quietly confident.

Processing and Craft

After harvest, each cherry undergoes meticulous washed processing and sun-drying. This demands both patience and precision to preserve the bean's delicate floral character and innate sweetness.

At Blagu, Guru — our master roaster — approaches this Gesha with reverence. Every roast curve is intentional: not to impose, but to reveal what the land has composed.

Each batch represents a balance between control and intuition, where technique transcends into art.

Reflections — The Spirit Behind the Bean

Gesha Peru is more than coffee; it is a dialogue between mountain, farmer, and roaster. The growers' dedicated care and Guru's artistry compose a singular symphony — gentle in approach, yet leaving a lasting impression.

Within every cup lies a philosophy of balance: between fire and patience, between data and intuition, between the roaster's precision and the warmth of a soul that truly listens.
