This coffee is exported a “Sidamo” in accordance with the Ethiopian Commodities Exchange (ECX) classification system. Under this system, all the coffee produced within the large Sidamo area is called “Sidamo Coffee”. In fact “Sidamo” coffees are of the “GUJI Type”: a coffee that has a clear cardamon, black tea flavour, coming from producers whose farms are located at altitude ranges from 1770 (in Shekiso, for example) to 2100 metres. Guji is on the side of Gedeo and it is a very big area.
Guji is located in the Oromia coffee growing region of Southern Ethiopia. Due to the climate and acidic soil in this particular region of Southern Ethiopia, almost all of the coffees trees grown here produce coffee beans with remarkable fruity flavors and are also renown for being some of the most high-quality Ethiopian coffee beans. Although Guji is usually sold under the category of Sidamo, this special lot coffee beans are sold separately to distinguish their fine flavor and body
Ethiopian Sidamo Guji coffee is known for having extremely fruit forward flavors. We lightly roast these Sidamo Guji coffee beans to ensure the true berry and wine-like flavors shine through and level out into a well-rounded, earthy finish. This bright, acidic Guji coffee is hailed for its unique and exquisite flavor and body.
