“When you brew coffee, you become the musician — composing the melody of its flavor notes.” — Barista Blagu
Among many ways to brew coffee, the French Press stands out for its elegant simplicity.
No filters, no elaborate tools — just ground coffee, hot water, and time.
This timeless method preserves the natural oils and full flavor of the beans, creating a cup that feels deep, rich, and genuine.
At Blagu Coffee Roaster, we see the French Press as a gentle art — a calm, morning ritual that connects you with the rhythm of your coffee. Each press is a quiet song of aroma, patience, and warmth.

Barista Blagu’s French Press Ratio: 1:12
Step 1: Measure and Grind
Weigh 20 g of coffee beans.
Grind them coarse, similar to sea salt.
Consistent grind size ensures balanced extraction and an even flavor.
Step 2: Preheat the French Press
Pour hot water into the French Press and let it sit for a moment.
This warms the glass and helps maintain the ideal brewing temperature.
Discard the water before adding the coffee.
Step 3: Heat the Water
Heat fresh, clean water to 92–95°C.
You’ll need about 240 ml of water for 20 g of coffee.
Step 4: Add the Coffee
Place the French Press on your scale.
Add the ground coffee and gently tap the sides to level the coffee bed.
Step 5: Pour and Bloom
Start your timer.
Pour just enough water to saturate the grounds evenly.
Let the coffee bloom for 45 seconds — this helps release carbon dioxide and enhances aroma.
After blooming, pour the remaining water slowly until it reaches about 1 inch below the rim.
Give the French Press a gentle swirl.
Place the lid and plunger on top (do not press yet).
Let the coffee steep for 1 minute.
Step 6: Press
After 3 minutes, press the plunger slowly and steadily to the bottom.
Avoid pressing too quickly to prevent agitation and bitterness.
Step 7: Serve and Enjoy
Your coffee is now ready.
Pour it immediately into your cup to prevent over-extraction.
Enjoy its creamy body, natural oil richness, and the gentle warmth that lingers.
Brewing with a French Press is like composing a slow melody — each press, each second, each swirl adds another note to the harmony. At Blagu, we cherish this balance of warmth and precision, where the simplest tools can produce the most soulful cup. Because sometimes, perfection lies in patience.
